Families and caregivers gather during a Noora Health Care Companion Program (CCP) session, gaining crucial skills and knowledge to confidently care for their loved ones at home after discharge.
Noora Health (NH) equips family caregivers with life-saving skills through its Care Companion Program (CCP), delivering in-facility training, culturally relevant educational content, and simplified health guidance. By providing materials in local languages and using familiar visuals and everyday terms, the program ensures that patients and caregivers can easily understand and adopt essential health behaviors. Families also receive ongoing, mobile-based support, including reminders, educational messages, and access to trained nurses via live chat.
Working closely with local and national governments, Noora Health trains healthcare staff to deliver the CCP within public health facilities, enabling these systems to eventually assume full ownership of the program. Through a dedicated educator platform, healthcare workers receive ongoing training, monitoring tools, and continuous learning opportunities. Meanwhile, patients and caregivers are onboarded to a digital follow-up service, the Remote Engagement Service (RES), where they receive tailored messages, often via WhatsApp, to reinforce the information shared in the hospital and provide timely medical advice.
Beyond direct service, Noora Health amplifies its impact by making its knowledge and products publicly available. This approach allows other organizations to adapt the CCP for their own communities, as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic and in recent partnerships with NGOs and governments in regions such as Himachal Pradesh, Nepal, and Indonesia. By collaborating in this way, Noora Health helps strengthen community health systems and ensure that lifesaving information reaches those who need it most.
Noora’s RES was originally developed to maintain a supportive connection with family caregivers after they return home from the hospital. Despite its benefits, the current service has shown mixed results. In one study (awaiting publication) with the Stanford Center for Health Education, we found that sending postnatal mothers a series of messages over a 50-day period significantly improved knowledge and practice rates for breastfeeding and skin-to-skin care. However, In another recently published study, sending brief debunking statements to patients with hypertension did not lead to significant improvements in follow-up visit rates. This may be due to the difference in implementation factors, content, and overall service model.
Once limited to sending follow-up messages and responding to caregiver questions, Noora is building a set of AI-powered enhancements for the RES platform. This transformation aims to turn RES into a truly personalized, proactive health companion that adapts to each family’s evolving needs.
At the heart of this transformation is the Caregiving Content Platform, which generates and delivers timely, relevant educational materials tailored to individual caregiver profiles. It crafts bite-sized, culturally sensitive content in multiple formats—like audio, video, and simple text—while ensuring the advice remains accessible, empathetic, and rooted in sound clinical guidelines. Meanwhile, the Health Navigator takes on the task of interpreting incoming caregiver queries, classifying their urgency, and directing them to the most appropriate support. By integrating intelligent triage tools and local service options, it ensures caregivers receive guidance that is both prompt and precisely targeted to their needs.
Generative AI offers a powerful opportunity to completely reimagine RES and transform it into a truly personalized, proactive health companion that better meets the diverse needs of caregivers. Noora has created a short video to envision the future user journey.

The Caregiving Content Platform is designed to address the existing limitations of episodic support and condition-specific content by providing caregivers with holistic, adaptive guidance that evolves alongside their needs. Through the Caregiver Profiler, the platform creates detailed family summaries and continuously updates caregiver attributes, ensuring that each household receives recommendations and educational materials that are both contextually relevant and culturally attuned.
Beyond static messaging, the Content Platform leverages Content Kernels—bite-sized, condition-specific pieces of information delivered in various formats such as text, audio, or video. These kernels are assembled into campaigns by the Campaign Generator, which adaptively selects the most pertinent topics and delivery methods based on caregiver feedback, behavior, and preferences. By curating dynamic, multimedia learning experiences and seamlessly integrating them into caregivers’ everyday lives, the Caregiving Content Platform is poised to foster deeper engagement, strengthen long-term adherence to healthy behaviors, and ultimately improve health outcomes for entire families.
The Health Navigator is designed to bring intelligent, responsive guidance to caregivers at any hour, ensuring they receive the right level of support, at the right time. By incorporating a Query Profiler, the system classifies incoming messages based on their intent and urgency, enabling rapid recognition and prioritization of critical health concerns. This approach relieves clinical staff from sorting through thousands of messages daily, allowing them to focus on the most pressing cases. With a Response Assistant at its core, the Health Navigator can offer immediate, context-aware answers, ensuring families have the information they need as soon as questions arise.
Building on this foundation, the Triage System integrates geofenced services to connect caregivers to local health resources, putting them on a direct path to more specialized care when necessary. Whether it’s guiding someone to a nearby clinic or recommending when to reach out for professional medical attention, this feature bridges the gap between digital advice and real-world action. By streamlining the flow of information, prioritizing urgent inquiries, and providing timely referrals, the Health Navigator helps families feel more supported, confident, and secure in their health decisions.
